Description
Antique c1920 Feathered Diamond with Coxcomb and Oak Leaf Quilt measuring 78 by 78 inches. Medallion style quilt with an appliquéd coxcomb and leaf center block, about 22 inches by 22 inches, set on point. The red appliqué is against a green ground. It is framed with a 7 inch wide feather diamond in red and green and features partial applique blocks in the setting triangles. There is a 7 inch pieced feathered or sawtooth border followed by a 3.5″ solid green border and a 3 inch wide Turkey red border. It is hand pieced, hand appliquéd, and hand quilted. Thin cotton batting and a mourning print reverse. The edge is finished with the front brought to the back, applied by hand. It comes with some research regarding similar quilts that appear to be from Lancaster County Pennsylvania, possibly Mennonite. This may be a very regional style.
