Description
2 Antique 19th Century Quilts includes an antique c1870 Half Square Triangle Quilt, from New Hampshire, measuring 80×82″, comprised of 4.5″ square blocks. There are bed post corners. It is hand and machine pieced, and hand quilted. There is thin cotton batting and an off white reverse. The edge is finished with an applied print fabric binding, by hand. It is in fair condition with spots and some brown fabrics deteriorating. Along with a c1890 Hourglass Chain Quilt, 74×80″, Comprised of 9 blocks, 17 by 17 inches, set straight, 3 by 3. There is an indigo print 5 inch stashing with pieced triangle cornerstones. There is a triple border with 2.5 inch indigo, 2.25 inch red print, and 2.5 inch indigo, and the hourglass blocks extend out to the corners. It is hand pieced and hand quilted . There is thin cotton batting and a woven plaid reverse. The edge is finished with an applied indigo and star print fabric, by hand. It is in fair condition with small spots and discolorations, and the red print fabric is starting to deteriorate with several splits throughout the quilt.
