Description
2 Vintage Quilts, includes a c1915 Blazing Star Quilt measuring 92×97″. Quilt has provenance from Illinois and comes with a note: “This quilt top was made by Ellen McFarland in the early 1900s. Probably about 1905. She gave it to her granddaughter, Flossie Brent Davison, in 1935 just before she died in Quincy Illinios. She was in a Civil Wear Veteran’s Home. Flossie had the quilt top finished by a church group of hand quiltinger in Bloomington, Illinois. Flossie then gave the quilt to her only daughter, Flornece Wilson, in 1943. Florence used it on her bed for many years thru the 1950s and early 1960s. Florence gave it to her daughter, Phyllis Binkley in 1995 after she started quilting.” There is thin cotton batting and off white cotton reverse. The edge is finished by white fabric binding by machine. It is in poor condition with fading and major fabric deterioration. Along with a Vintage c1950 Dresden Plate quilt. It is comprised of 16 Dresden plates, about 13 inches in diameter, applied to a pink background 4 by 4. There is a 4 inch pieced trapezoid shape border. It is hand pieced, hand appliquéd, and hand quilted. There is thin cotton batting and off white cotton reverse the edge is finished with a pink solid fabric binding. It is in poor condition with spots, edge wear, fabric deterioration, and small holes. In house Flat Rate Shipping of $35 is a domestic shipping estimate for first lot and includes insurance.
