Description
c1950 Black Jacket and Skirt Pairing. The lot includes a vintage black jacket and skirt pairing featuring a jacket by Mainbocher Inc. It has a fine wool shell, a double breasted front closure with plastic cats eye buttons, a cropped length, and a fine silk brocade lining in a chrysanthemum pattern with fuzzy high pile flowers on an ivory ground. laying flat it measures: bust 18”, waist: 17”, sleeve: 19”, length: 20”. Also included is a vintage c1950 black circle skirt featuring 3 rows of small tuxedo pleated black acetate with thin black velvet ribbon accents, and hook and eye closures at either side of the waist. The skirt is unlined and possibly homemade, laying flat it measures: waist: 12”, length: 27.5”. The pairing is in fair condition with the silk lining of the jacket beginning to shatter at the neck, the skirt has several areas of loose or opening seams and general fraying to the seams. It appears the dress had a matching belt at one point but it is currently missing. If you have any doubt, please ask questions!
