Description
Late 19th Century Black Mantle and Jacket. The group includes a late 19th century black mantle and black jacket. Featuring 1 black mantle in an undetermined fabric (possibly velveteen) featuring an elongated square sailor collar trimmed in black glass beaded trim with a high neck embellished with ruched and ruffled black silk crepe and 3 black silk bows. It is lined in black chintz and has hook and eye closures down the front. It measures 17” long and could be considered free size. It is in good/fair condition with fraying to the silk bows, wear to the silk crepe, a missing eye closure at the neck, and a slight film on the glass beaded trim from being stored, it can be wiped away. As well as 1 black jacket in an undetermined fabric featuring a wide round neckline, bloused sleeves with vertical pick up accents starting at the shoulder, and an elongated front and back terminating in tabs. As well as hook and eye closures down the front with an attached belt. It is lined in ivory silk brocade in an English ivy motif. It also includes a brass navy fur clip from the 20th century with a lever back. Laying flat the flat the jacket measures: bust 20”, waist 15”, sleeves 24”. It is in fair condition with missing hook and eyes, and the lining has several areas that are shattering. Please see the photos. If you have any doubt, please ask questions!
