Description
Pair of Late 19th Century Blue Wool Jackets. The group includes 2 late 19th century blue wool jackets featuring 1 pigeon chested navy blue wool jacket with bloused sleeves and double shoulder flounces piped in black silk with a wrap around layered strip with a rosette and double black tassels. As well as black and green passementerie trim that starts at the front hem and wraps around the collar and down the other side with hook and eye closures down the front. It is lined in black silk and has a slight peplum waist. Laying flat it measures: bust: 16.5”, waist 12”, sleeve 25”. It is in fair condition with fading and uneven color, several small holes, wear and fading to the tassels and trim, and a lining that is almost completely shattered. 1 childrens navy blue wool peacoat from B.Altman & Co featuring military-like black wool braid trim and accents at the collar, cuffs, back, and pockets with small brass button accents. As well as a double breasted front with 5 metallic buttons with 6 star motifs. It has puffed shoulders and is lined in red silk with a B. Altman label at the collar. Laying flat it measures: chest: 14”, waist 14”, sleeve: 17.5”. It is in fair condition with holes in the wool shell, oxidation to the brass elements, 1 missing 6 star button, wear to the wool braid, and several areas of wear to the lining. As well as a few seams at the bottom hem beginning to come unsewn. Please see the photos. If you have any doubt, please ask questions!
