Description
Antique c1895 Two Pattern Quilt measuring 64×80″. Blocks are String Star and Cobblestones. It is hand pieced and hand quilted in Baptist Fan design. There is medium loft batting and a purple solid reverse. The edge is finished with the back brought to the front. It is in good condition with minor discolorations, but 2 fabrics have deteriorated. There is a sleeve along the back top edge for hanging, and signed by Bobbie Aug. This quilt can be seen on page 130 of “Vintage Quilts” co-authored by Bobby Aug. From the Estate of Bobbie Aug. Bobbie Aug was a well known and regarded quilt historian, author, appraiser, and quilter for over a half a century. She was also an antique quilt dealer and quilt store co- owner and judge. Most notable is her work on the American Quilter’s Society Quilt Appraiser Certification Committee and her early involvement in the Professional Association of Appraisers-Quilted Textiles.
