Description
Vintage c1940 Embroidered Flower Basket Quilt Measuring 86 x 105 inches. It is comprised of 12 blocks, 15.5×15.5 inches, set straight, 3 by 4, with 3.5″ blue sashing and pink cornerstones. On all 4 sides is a 3.5″ inner white border and a 4 inch pieced pink and blue outer border. There is also a 5 inch white border along the vertical sides. It is machine pieced, hand embroidered, and hand quilted. There is thin cotton batting and an off white cotton reverse. The edge is finished with an applied blue binding. It is in good condition with only small discolorations. There is a sleeve on the back along the top for hanging. From the Estate of Bobbie Aug. Bobbie Aug was a well known and regarded quilt historian, author, appraiser, and quilter for over a half a century. She was also an antique quilt dealer and quilt store co- owner and judge. Most notable is her work on the American Quilter’s Society Quilt Appraiser Certification Committee and her early involvement in the Professional Association of Appraisers-Quilted Textiles.
