Description
Group of 3 Antique Doll Quilts. The group includes 3 antique doll quilts From the Estate of Bobbie Aug. Featuring 1 four patch strippy doll quilt c1875 New England in a variety of printed cottons. It is hand quilted and has cotton batting, with a hand applied straight grain binding with a brown cotton back. It measures 12.5” by 19” long and is in good/fair condition with some staining, toning, fading, and a few small holes and is featured on pg 54 of “Antique Quilts and Textiles” which is co authored by Bobbie Aug. 1 antique Log Cabin doll quilt with a ruffled border c1900 featuring wool, cotton, flannel, and voile. It is hand pieced and hand embroidered with no quilting or batting. It has a ruffle at the top and bottom edges with a knife edge the sides. Both the ruffles and the back are in green cotton sateen. It measures 13 1/2” by 15 3/4” long It is in good condition with some fading to the cotton sateen backing and ruffles. It is featured on pg. 52 of AQT. 1 antique Four Patch strippy doll quilt c1840 with early Madder prints. It is hand pieced and hand quilted. The quilting is done in vertical rows with no batting. The sides have an applied straight grain binding. The top and bottom have a faced edge finish and it is backed in a brown muslin with fugitive dyes. It measures 16 1/2” by 23” long and is in gair condition with some fading, spots, toning, and several holes and tears. It is featured on pg 55 of AQT. Bobbie Aug was a well known and regarded quilt historian, author, appraiser, and quilter for over a half a century. She was also an antique quilt dealer and quilt store co- owner and judge. Most notable is her work on the American Quilter’s Society Quilt Appraiser Certification Committee and her early involvement in the Professional Association of Appraisers-Quilted Textiles.
