Description
Group of 3 molas, inlcudes one pair, with hand reverse appliqué and appliqué construction throughout, each worked in three layers.
Panama (Guna Yala), circa 1960s, 17 x 20 inches
Crossed implement forms, possibly 7 shovels or tools, arranged within an X-composition on a gray ground. The depiction of everyday objects reflects the Guna tradition of incorporating observed items from daily life and trade goods into mola design.
Panama (Guna Yala), circa 1960s, 16.5 x 22 inches
Matched pair with central teardrop or seed form surrounded by flowing S-curves and flanking vessel shapes on a red ground, with sawtooth zigzag borders in green and gray and orange channel outlines, trimmed with rickrack along the upper and lower edges. The organic, curvilinear composition with its central radiating motif suggests a traditional Guna representation drawn from the natural world.

Condition report:
Wear and fading on all 3 molas, red curvilinear molas has numerous holes. In house Flat Rate US Shipping of $15 for 1 -10 molas, $5 each additional 10 molas. Insurance is additional and required.
