Description
Group of 3 molas with hand reverse appliqué and appliqué construction throughout, each worked in three layers.
Panama (Guna Yala), circa 1960s, 16.5 x 21 inches
Densely filled allover composition of nested triangular spirals with cross-shaped motifs at each intersection, worked in marron on a red ground with yellow-green channel outlines. The fully saturated, interlocking grid pattern with no negative space represents a traditional Guna approach to geometric abstraction requiring considerable planning and precision.

Abstract linear composition with angular interlocking channels on a pink ground, outlined in blue, yellow, and teal. The zigzag appliqué border along the upper edge and multicolored channel work add visual depth to the bilateral design.
Panama (Guna Yala), circa 1960s, 14.5 x 21 inches
Large-scale interlocking angular forms with radiating zigzag limbs on a red ground, worked in lavender with orange channel outlines, featuring small cross motifs at the extremities. The bold, expansive composition with its dynamic angular symmetry creates a striking graphic effect characteristic of traditional Guna abstract design.
