Description
John Hewson Reproduction Quilt measuring 77×100″. In the center are 2 late 18th century repro print vases with flowers, birds, and butterflies in Broderie Perse applique. The fabric is similar to what John Hewson would have produced when coming over to Philadelphia in the 1770s. The vases are surrounded by various borders with more Broderie Perse birds, flying geese, and floral motifs. There is a gentle scallop edge. The quilt is in excellent condition with excellent workmanship. It is machine pieced, machine appliqued, and machine quilted. The quilt is signed and dated 2015 by Ellen Rosenbach on the front and has a label on the reverse. Please see the About This Auction for her story!
