Description
Pair of Late 19th Century Black Bodices. The pairing includes 2 later 19th century black bodices featuring 1 black silk long sleeve bodice with vertical tapered pickups with tacked black velvet ribbon bands and matching bands wrapped around each cuff and white silk twisting trim. As well as the back ending in 2 tapered tabs each embellished with black silk covered buttons. It is in black chintz with stays and an internal striped silk waistband in olive, black, and red. Laying flat it measures: bust: 18.5”, waist 15”, sleeve: 14”. It is in fair condition with wear and fraying to the collar and toning to the white twisted trim at the cuffs. As well as 1 late 19th century black silk bodice featuring a dramatic solid black leg of mutton sleeves and oversized pointed lapels trimmed in gold silk twisted cord. It has a solid black front panel with hook and eye closures and a black floral brocade body with a solid black bow at the lower back. It is lined in ice blue cotton in a grid pattern with black stays and an internal waistband. Laying flat it measures: bust 17”, waist 14”, sleeves 24”. It is in fair/poor condition with missing front closures, large tears to the front silk insert, loose twisted trim. The silk on the lapels is beginning to shatter. Please see the photos.
