Description
Pair of Late 19th Century Ivory Bodices c1880. The pairing includes 2 late 19th century c1880 bodices, featuring 1 day time bodice in ivory light weight wool. It has a heavily pleated and wrapped body, large puffed sleeves, and 5” long floral lace flounces at the shoulders and at the cuffs. It also has an ivory floral silk front with a built in cravat, and a matching waistband with a large kite shaped mother of pearl buckle. It is lined in cotton with quite a few stays, hook and eye closures, and an internal waistband. Laying flat it measures: bust 14”, waist 11”, sleeves 21”. It is in fair condition with heavy toning, spots, several holes, and general signs of wear. Also included is 1 ivory silk evening bodice featuring a curved fold over collar with a V neckline, vertically pleated front panels, and three quarter length puffed sleeves gathered at the elbow with silk ribbon bows. As well as 2 flounces of net lace at each front side. It is lined in cotton with stays and hook and eye closures along the front. Laying flat it measures: bust 14.5”, waist 12.5”, sleeves 14.5”. It is in fair condition with toning, spots, 2 large stains on the upper front right shoulder, tears in the lace flounces and the silk shattering in the underarms. Please see the photos.
