Description
Antique c1850 Star and Crescent Quilt believed to be from the Longwell family in Franklin County, OH. It measures 67 x 91 inches. It is comprised of 18 blocks, 15 x 15 inches, set on point and staggered, 3 by 4, with 1.5 inch indigo print sashing, and pieced setting triangles of indigo print with a white frame. It is hand pieced, hand quilted. There is thin cotton batting and an off white cotton reverse. The edge is finished with and applied indigo print binding, by hand. It is in fair condition with minor fading and a large discoloration along one side. The quilt comes with some provenance with family history and ancestry research. From a NJ collector and historian.
