Description
Antique c1880 Ault Star Quilt. This is 1 of 2 quilts known to be made from this star pattern. The quilt has an inked signature on the back, Jemima M Ault. It measures 78 x 82 inches. It is comprised of 49 blocks, about 7 x 7 inches, set on point, 7 by 7, with solid white alternating squares and setting triangles. There is a triple border 4.5 inches wide of a tan print, white solid, and hand prints. It is hand and machine pieced and hand quilted. There is thin cotton batting and a white cotton reverse. The edge is finished with the back brought to the front, and applied by hand. It is in fair condition with several blocks starting to deteriorate. The quilt comes with some provenance with family history and ancestry research. From a NJ collector and historian. If you have any doubt, please ask questions!
