Description
Vintage c1940 String Pieced Quilt measuring 62 x78 inches. It is comprised of 154 string pieced rectangles, 4 x 7 inches, set straight, 14 by 11, with a 1.5 inch blue floral border. Fabric placement and block orientation creates the graphic diamond shape motifs. It is machine pieced and hand quilted in Baptist Fan designs. There is a yellow cotton solid fabric reverse and thin cotton batting. The edge is finished with the back brought to the front and applied by hand. It is in good condition with minor fading and small discolorations. From the Estate of Bobbie Aug. Bobbie Aug was a well known and regarded quilt historian, author, appraiser, and quilter for over a half a century. She was also an antique quilt dealer and quilt store co- owner and judge. Most notable is her work on the American Quilter’s Society Quilt Appraiser Certification Committee and her early involvement in the Professional Association of Appraisers-Quilted Textiles.
