Description
Vintage c1930 Grandmothers Flower Garden Quilt measuring 62×79″, believed to be from Kentucky. Each hexagon measures 5/8″ along one side. Each rosette has a yellow center, followed by a frame of print, a frame of green solid, a frame of pink solid, and a garden path in solid black. It is hand pieced and hand quilted. This cotton batting and a pink solid reverse. The edge is finished with a black solid fabric applied binding. It is in fair condition with some splits in the black fabric along the perimeter and center fold. There is a sleeve along the back edge for hanging. This quilt can be seen on page 20 of “Antique Quilts & Textiles” co-authored by Bobby Aug. From the Estate of Bobbie Aug. Bobbie Aug was a well known and regarded quilt historian, author, appraiser, and quilter for over a half a century. She was also an antique quilt dealer and quilt store co- owner and judge. Most notable is her work on the American Quilter’s Society Quilt Appraiser Certification Committee and her early involvement in the Professional Association of Appraisers-Quilted Textiles.
