Description
Vintage c1945 Lone Star with Satellite Stars measuring 63×78″, The large center star measures 63×64 and is comprised of diamonds measuring one inch along one side. There are satellite Lone stars in each of the corners and half stars in the setting triangles. There is a pieced 2.5 inch inner border and 3 inch blue print outer border along the top and bottom. It is hand pieced and hand quilted. Medium loft cotton batting and a reddish purple print reverse. The edge is finished with and applied white binding. It is in good condition with a few small spots. Very graphic with improvisational use of various solids and print fabrics from that era. There is a sleeve along the back edge for hanging. This quilt can be seen on page 16 of “Antique Quilts & Textiles” co-authored by Bobby Aug. From the Estate of Bobbie Aug. Bobbie Aug was a well known and regarded quilt historian, author, appraiser, and quilter for over a half a century. She was also an antique quilt dealer and quilt store co- owner and judge. Most notable is her work on the American Quilter’s Society Quilt Appraiser Certification Committee and her early involvement in the Professional Association of Appraisers-Quilted Textiles.
