Description
Vintage 1934 Old Fashion Star Friendship Quilt measuring 87 by 70 inches. It is comprised of 20 blocks, 13.5 by 13.5 inches, set straight, 5 by 4, with a green and yellow sashing and 9 patch cornerstones, 3 inches. It is hand pieced, hand embroidered, and hand quilted. Thin cotton batting and a pale yellow reverse. The edge is finished with the back brought to the front, applied by hand. This appears to be a family quilt with mother in the center, and many members of the Rhodes, Autry, and Babb family hand embroidered in the center of each block a few with ages and date. Names include Zilla Autry, Lillian Autry, Wanda Rhodes, Sylvia Morrow, Clara Autry, Dorothy Rhodes, Annie Autry, Walter Rhodes, Doyle Rhodes, Loyd Rhodes, Mildred Morrow age 7, Phyllis Gene Autry age 5, Hud Rhodes, Ruth Babb, Marybeth Rhodes, Lizzie Babb, Helen Faye Rhodes. It was collected in Arkansas and may be based on initial genealogy research a Crawford County, Arkansas quilt.
Condition report:
It is in good condition with several spots and minor color bleeding in the sashing. In house Flat Rate Shipping of $30 is a domestic shipping estimate for first quilt and includes insurance.
