Panama (Guna Yala), circa 1960s–1970s

Reverse appliqué, appliqué, and hand-embroidered mola panel featuring two elaborately worked spirit figures in the upper corners, each with a tiered headdress in multicolor stripes and a body banded with polychrome square and arch motifs, flanking a small red and teal animal figure at center, worked in three layers on a black cotton ground. Grids of polychrome appliquéd squares with dot centers fill the lateral registers, while scattered branch and coral stitch embroidery animates the open ground throughout. A dynamic and iconographically complex composition.

Significant fading and a small area of wear in center. In house Flat Rate US Shipping of $15 for 1 -10 molas, $5 each additional 10 molas. Insurance is additional and required.
