Description
Wedding dress from 1884 that belonged to Sarah Frederick for her wedding day. The dress features a burgundy silk bodice with steel cut buttons with a velvet center, a matching skirt, and a cranberry cape. The bodice is lined with 12 buttons with the top button missing. The bodice, laid flat: Bust: 15″, Waist: 12″, Sleeves: 19″, Shoulders: 13″, Length: 20″. There are perspiration marks along the pits and a tear along the left breast. There is a fold that lifts up and some slight tears along the front of the bodice and on the sleeves. Hook and eye closures underneath the buttons. The buttons have rusted due to age. The cranberry cape features a damask pattern of flowers and Hook and eye closures along the top with the rest flowing freely. There are two panels along the front that extend to around the hips. On the left side, there are some tears along the side and on the collar as well alongside wear on the damask. Laid flat: Length of Back: 15″, Length of Front: 27″, and Shoulders: 13″. The burgundy skirt is pleated and it features a bustle along the back. The security button is missing on the skirt and there are some faded areas on it. Small holes on the skirt and the hemline shows wear. Laid flat: Length: 38″ and Waist: 13″. Overall in fair condition with age causing the condition issues present.
