Description
Antique c1870 25 Block Quilt measuring 71 by 72 inches. It is comprised of 25 blocks, 9 and .5 by 9.5 inches, set straight, 5 by 5, with 2 inch over dyed green print sashing and white cornerstones. There is a 1.25 inch madder border on 2 sides and a chrome print border on the other 2 sides. It is followed by a one inch solid white border, a 1.75 inch over dyed green print border,. There are additional borders on 3 other sides of varying widths. It is hand pieced and hand quilted. Thin cotton batting and a brown print reverse. The edge is finished with the back brought to the front, applied by hand. One cornerstone has in Inc. stamped Lizzie Es(illegible). Workmanship is primitive.
