Description
Antique c1845 PA Album Quilt Top with many Embroidered Names, It measures 72 by 72 inches. Comprised of 72 blocks, 8 by 8 inches, set straight, 8 by 9, with 1.5 inch red sashing and pieced cheddar triangles and cheddar cornerstones, creating a star at each intersection. It is hand pieced and many of the Album blocks are hand embroidered embroidered in black and red thread in a petit point stitch. Some of the blank blocks appear to have a ghost of a name on them, from a light pencil mark yet to be embroidered. Names include Elizabeth Wilcox, Betsy W Stafford, Betsy Cook, Olive Sabin, Lucy B Sackett, and many more. Great variety of period fabrics including Prussian blue and green, chintz, lapis, early purple, overdyed green, and more. There is a tag attached stating that this was believed to have been from Pennsylvania. This quilt top was previously part of the Pilgrim Roy Collection.
Condition report:
It is in good condition with minor toning, spots and minor wear along the outer top red border. In house Flat Rate Shipping of $25 is a domestic shipping estimate for first lot and includes insurance. We will gladly combine multiple lots for your convenience and economy.
