19th Century Red Toile Fragments. There is a red toile on a cotton piece from 1840 which features Jean D’Arc or Joan of Arc. The piece includes Jean d’Arc in her historical metal armor with her sword, a crest with fleur de lis, a helmet, and a sword with wreaths, branches, a house, and another structure. It is a French piece on copperplate and her appearance is after a Marie Christine d’Orleans sculpture. The piece is in fragile condition and it has splits and spots on it. It is 40.5″x75″. Included as well is a late 19th century red toile on a cotton piece that is called La Chasse a Jouy. It is an adaptation of a 1815 French roller print and it is not a full repeat. It features a hunting scene, horses, carriages, stags and more. There is a street sign with Rond Victor, Rond de Nagu, and other streets labeled. It is 15.5″x33″. The piece is fragile and has some spots on it. Additionally included is a piece from 1850 and it has a deep red toile on cotton. It shows dense foliage with vignettes on it of a couple and a boy waving to a shop. It is not a complete repeat. It has the following measurements; 14″x 14″, 14″x 15″, and 14.5″x22″. It is fragile and it has a few spots. The last set that is included is a 19th century French toile du Jouy. It shows scenes from a domestic life with a woman and her children doing various activities. It is 20″x31″, 10″x 18.25″, and 5.5″x10″. The 3 fragments are in good condition.
