19th Century Mourning Bodices. The lot includes a group of three 19th century mourning bodices. Featuring a sheer striped black silk crepe bodice with long cuffed sleeves, sheer ruffled black silk trim, a faux sailor collar, stays with an inner belt, a black silk lining, and hook and eye closures down the front. Laying flat it measures: Shoulders:12.5”, Bust: 17”, Sleeves: 21”, Waist: 12.5”, Length: 19”. In fair/poor condition with holes and wear to the sheer black silk crepe. A late 19th century black silk bodice featuring dramatic blouse sleeves, an ivory silk yolk with a silk net overlay embellished with metallic spangles in an undulating pattern, black silk piped trim, clustered spangled net accents, black beaded accents, blue stays, an inner belt, and a purple cotton lining with hook and eye closures down the front. Laying flat it measures: Shoulders: 13.5”, Bust: 16”, Sleeve: 22.5”, Waist: 11”, Length: 20”. In fair/poor condition with tears to the silk shell, shattering net, oxidized spangles, and rusted hook and eyes. Also included is a late 19th century black wool bodice featuring boxy blouse sleeves, a standing collar and belt with a pleated black silk bow, soutache style embroidery consisting of braided cotton and black silk passementerie trim with looped tatted edges down the front, long sleeves with pleated black grosgrain ribbon and tatted trim cuffs, a blue printed cotton lining, stays, and hook and eye closures down the front. Laying flat it measures: Shoulders: 12”, Bust: 15”, Sleeves: 24.5”, Waist: 12”, Length: 16”. The bodice is in fair condition with moth damage/holes in the wool shell, fading and silk loss to the cotton/silk braid trim, loose and rusted hook and eye closures, and toning to the cotton lining.
