Description
19th century hand-colored wooden fan featuring a hand-colored paper leaf. The front showcases a Persian scene with gold embossed architectural motifs and the reverse depicts 18th-century courting couples with gold stamped paisley accents. The fan includes carved wooden ribs with gold accents, carved wooden guards backed with gold stamped foil, and hand-painted floral and figural motifs. It is fastened with a mother of pearl rivet and a brass loop. Measures 20 in x 10.5 in. Condition is fair, exhibiting small splits, tape repairs, and light discoloration on the leaf due to storage.
