Description
2 19th century folding fans featuring hand-painted designs. One fan features an apricot colored silk leaf with hand painted floral garlands and wheat bushel motifs, white mother of pearl guards and ribs, a rhinestone rivet on a decorative gold-toned metal loop. In fair condition with the leaf shattering in several areas. Measures 9 1/2 in x 18 in and comes with a period brocade box lined in silk. Also included is a double-sided bone petite fan, possibly French, with Vernis Martin style lacquer finish, featuring a pastoral scene on one side and a courting couple on the other signed E. Kees, and a rose cut pink glass gem rivets. The ribs are linked together with a thin black silk ribbon with hand applied gold tone accents. In fair condition, it shows paint loss along the trim, and measures 6 1/2 in x 11 1/4 in. Includes a period red cardboard fan box. Please see the photos for details.
