Description
The antique 1880s bonnet features an antique black braided raffia loop design accented by four small curved horns. The structure is adorned with black silk poppy flowers, two on each side, with gold stamen centers that add a hint of contrast. A delicate lace ruffle in cream color frames the ensemble, while fine black beaded and sequined wire loops decorate the front. The overall design reflects the intricate craftsmanship typical of the 1880s. In fair condition with toning and holes throughout the lace accents, the black silk poppies are becoming brittle. Previously part of a collection that rented to the entertainment industry. Restoration may have done but with period materials and skilled workmanship. Please see the photos for details.
