Description
Antique c1890 Crazy quilt with lots of velvet, measures Him 59 by 78 inches. It is hand pieced, hand appliquéd, and hand embroidered. There is no batting, but a yellow 17 reverse. The edge is finished knife edge style, by machine. It is in poor condition with several of the silks shattered and completely missing, and some velvets are starting to lose its pile. Along with a one patch tied comfort referred to as the hippie quilt by family, from the late 1960s and early 1970s, most of the fabrics are polyester and wool. It is machine pieced and hand tied at various intervals. Thin polyester batting and a woven stripe reverse. It is in also in poor condition with scattered white spots, possibly paint, several holes and split seams. The quilt comes with a 6 page hand written note outlining a brief history about the quilt.
