Description
Antique c1880 Princess Feather Medallion Quilt measuring 84 by 88 inches. There is a large 38 inch wide red Swirling 6 Feather Medallion in the center surrounded by 8 red multipointed stars with reverse applique, within a red pointy swag with pairs of plumes in the corners. There is a 2.5 inch red dogtooth border. There is thin cotton batting and an off white cotton reverse the edge is finished with an applied white fabric binding by hand. It is hand appliquéd, hand reverse appliquéd, hand pieced, and hand quilted. It is in overall poor condition with the Turkey Red abrading, small holes, overall toning, spots, and edge wear. But it is a very graphic and unique setting for a Princess Feather Quilt and would be wonderful to reproduce.
