Description
Vintage Hand-Painted Vogart Bicentennial Quilt Measuring 62 by 70 inches. It is comprised of 24 squares, 10.5 by 10.5 inches, set straight, 4 by 6, with a 2.5 inch red border, a 3 inch white border, and a 3.5″ blue outer border. The squares are solid blue and white, with hand-painted patriotic motifs celebrating the Bicentennial in the white squares. Designs feature flags, Eagles, Betsy Ross with a flag, and more. It is machine pieced, hand painted, and hand quilted. There is a polyester batting and a white reverse. The edge is finished with the back brought to the front and applied by hand. There is a sleeve on the reverse for hanging. It is in good condition with just a few small spots. This quilt was published, page 172, in “Quilts Presidential and Patriotic” by Sue Reich, noted author, historian, and quilt appraiser.
