Description
Antique c1880 Tulip Quilt with Swag and Tassel Border using oxblood and teal fabrics on a yellow ground. Believed to be from Lancaster County, PA. It measures 86 by 88 inches. It is comprised of 9 blocks, 19 1/2 by 19 1/2, set straight, 3 by 3, with a 1.5 inch sawtooth inner border and a 12 inch swag and tassel border. It is hand pieced, hand appliquéd, and hand quilted. There is thin cotton batting and a yellow print reverse. The edge is finished with and applied red fabric binding. It is in good condition with several small spots and minor edge wear. The workmanship is quite primitive but very charming and graphic. In house Flat Rate Shipping of $30 is a domestic shipping estimate for first lot and includes insurance.
