Description
Antique c1900 Redwork Quilt Comfort & Counterpane. Includes a white cotton redwork counter pane bedspread, machine pieced and hand embroidered depicting flowers, figures, kewpie babies, and animals, with a red edge, measuring approximately 83″ x 99″, in good condition with a few areas of spotting. Also includes a redwork tied comfort quilt with red cotton sashing and 3.5″ white cotton squares embroidered with a variety of animals, flowers, figures and words one of which is 1900. machine pieced, hand embroidered, hand tied with black thread to a striped cotton flannel backing, and a calico edging, it is not quilted, measures 63″ x 66″, It is in fair condition with areas of repair and an area pinned for conservation, fading throughout, especially to the red sashing and several holes in the flannel backing. From the estate of Sharon Stark, noted Pennsylvania textile dealer and award winning author. In overall good condition minor spots and/or discolorations, please see the photographs for imperfections.
