Description
Late 18th/Early 19th Century Appliqued Textile Fragment. The lot includes an antique late 18th/early 19th century possibly Portuguese textile fragment featuring yellow silk scrollwork patterns applique onto burgundy silk and outlined in metallic thread. The piece measures 41” x 42” and has a multitude of poor 20th century stabilization efforts where burgundy silk and yellow acetate have been glued down. There is an added 6” wide bottom velvet border added and it is backed in plum flannel. The piece is in fair/poor condition with the original silk base becoming threadbare throughout, shattered yellow silk appliques, and fraying throughout. If you have any doubt, please ask questions!
