Description
Vintage c1950 Dresden Plate Summer Quilt measuring 83 by 94 inches. 16 Dresden plate wheels, 11.5 inches in diameter are arranged 4 by 4 evenly along the red, white, and blue paisley whole cloth ground. It is hand and machine pieced, hand appliquéd, and hand quilted. There is no batting, and a red solid cotton reverse. The edge is finished with an applied red binding, by machine. It is in good condition with a few spots, and the quilting lines are quite dark. Many of the fabrics in the Dresden plates are much earlier, circa 1890.From the estate of Sharon Stark, noted Pennsylvania textile dealer and award winning author.
