Description
Antique c1870 Small Quilt, measuring 30×39″, believed to be cut down from a larger quilt. It is Comprised of 4 Square in a Square blocks, 8 by 8 inches, set straight, 2 x 2. There is an 8 1/2 inch horizontal sashing and borders and 6 1/2 inch vertical borders. It appears that the cutdown portion was from the center of the quilt, that is machine pieced back into place, with evidence of partial blocks down the center. It is hand and machine pieced, hand quilted. There is thin cotton batting and an off white cotton reverse. The edge is finished with the back brought to the front and applied by hand. It is in good condition with overall toning. From an Alexandria, VA collector. If you have any doubt, please ask questions!
