Description
Vintage c1940 Flower Basket Summer Quilt measuring 68 x 92 inches. It is comprised of 12 appliquéd blocks, 13.5 x 13.5 inches, set on point, 3 by 4, with solid yellow setting squares and triangles. There is a 6.5 inch muslin border with an undulating vine and appliquéd flowers and leaves. It is machine pieced and hand appliquéd. It is a summer quilt with no batting or quilting, but there is a muslin backing and an applied green bias binding finishes the edge. It’s in good condition with several small spots and discolorations. There is a sleeve on the back for hanging. From the Estate of Bobbie Aug. Bobbie Aug was a well known and regarded quilt historian, author, appraiser, and quilter for over a half a century. She was also an antique quilt dealer and quilt store co- owner and judge. Most notable is her work on the American Quilter’s Society Quilt Appraiser Certification Committee and her early involvement in the Professional Association of Appraisers-Quilted Textiles.
