Description
Antique c1890 Tulip in Vase Quilt Variation Measuring 76 x 84 inches. It is comprised of 30 Tulip in basket blocks, 9 x 9 inches, set on point, 5 by 6, with a brown leaf print setting squares, triangles, and 6 inch border. It is hand pieced, and hand quilted. There is thin cotton batting and off white reverse. The edge is finished with and applied Garibaldi Red print binding. It is in good condition with just minor discoloration. There is a sleeve on the back for hanging. And a hand applied pocket on the back with provenance for the quilt that this was made by Jenny Snodgrass Major of New Palestine, Indiana. From the Estate of Bobbie Aug. Bobbie Aug was a well known and regarded quilt historian, author, appraiser, and quilter for over a half a century. She was also an antique quilt dealer and quilt store co- owner and judge. Most notable is her work on the American Quilter’s Society Quilt Appraiser Certification Committee and her early involvement in the Professional Association of Appraisers-Quilted Textiles.
