Panama (Guna Yala), circa 1960s

Reverse appliqué mola panel featuring an allover pattern of interlocking diamonds arranged in a repeating lattice, executed in three layers of maroon, red, and orange cotton with appliqué accents and hand embroidery in blue, pink, yellow, green, turquoise, and white. Small polychrome diamond and triangle motifs are scattered throughout the negative spaces, each in a different color. Banded fabric border of yellow, green, and black at the bottom edge.
