Description
Panama (Guna Yala), circa 1960s–1970s

Boldly composed reverse appliqué mola panel depicting a central abstract medallion surrounded by cosmological and mythological motifs, executed in two layers of black and white cotton with extensive appliqué and hand embroidery throughout. The central medallion features a bisected abstract form in pink and blue with a serrated circular border, set upon a polychrome chevron pedestal. Two human-like figures occupy the lower corners, each rendered in silhouette with striped garments. The entire background is worked in dense, interlocking Greek key and maze-like channels of white reverse appliqué.

Condition report:
Minor wear and fading consistent with age. In house Flat Rate US Shipping of $15 for 1 -10 molas, $5 each additional 10 molas. Insurance is additional and required.
