Reverse appliqué, appliqué, and hand-embroidered mola panel depicting a syncretic Nativity scene within a framed black cotton ground, featuring Mary at left with multicolor striped hair and an embroidered face, Joseph at right draped in a white striped cloth and holding a staff beside a four-pointed star, a central Christ child figure in pink with a white blanket set upon a blue manger, and two animals — an ox outlined in orange and a pig outlined in green — rendered with dense multicolor running stitch throughout, worked in three layers of black, burgundy, green, and orange cotton. Polychrome dash-stitch and striped filler animate the background registers. An accomplished syncretic narrative composition.
