Worked in 3 layers of reverse appliqué, appliqué, and hand-embroidered mola panel featuring a central black animal figure with a single white-inlaid eye and striped body, set within a radial composition of eight leaf forms, each filled with polychrome comb and chevron patterning, worked in three layers of red, charcoal, and black cotton. Geometric step and maze forms animate the outer border throughout. Extensive multicolor hand embroidery, including chain stitch and running stitch, enriches the interior of each form.
