Reverse appliqué, appliqué, and hand-embroidered mola panel featuring two large confronting nightbirds, each with an elaborately worked spiral eye disc embroidered in concentric rings of yellow, teal, orange, and red, their spread wings rendered in densely striped black and polychrome cotton, worked in three layers of red, black, and charcoal cotton. A central spirit figure with multicolor dash-stitch patterning joins the two figures at the crown, while two smaller attendant bird figures appear at the lower flanks. Polychrome appliquéd dash-stitch forms animate the outer border.

Condition report:
