Description
2 Antique Doll Quilts – 1880-1900. A Robbing Peter to Pay Paul doll quilt which is 16″x20″. It is c1880-1900 and it has woven check and chrome orange fabrics alongside a blue border that almost appears to be southern teal. The blocks are hand pieced and so is the assembly. The hand quilting follows the curves of the blocks. One block has color damage and there is toning on the woven check pieces. The border shows toning as well. Included as well is a Basket reversible to Star doll quilt. It is 17″x17″ and dated 1895. There are pink and white stripes and the basket possibly had a purple check handle along with purple triangles. The border appears to have been a purple check as does parts of the star side. All piecing, quilting, and binding done by hand. Most of the quilting is on or near the seam lines. Toning, small holes, and some spots can be seen.
