Description
Antique c1870 Marsielles Stuffed Quilt measuring 80×74″, mostly like early machine made. Medallion style with a pointed star or sun shape in the center, surrounded by a chain motif frame. There are birds and flowers and other geometric motifs throughout. White cotton front and reverse. Photographs are taken with light behind it so that the motifs are visible. I believe it may have been cut down, the medallion is not perfectly in the center of the quilt, and 3 sides have a hand applied woven binding, one edge is hand finished. In fair condition with spots, age discoloration and some wear to the reverse, that allows us to see the corded channels.
