Matched pair of Guna (Kuna) mola panels worked in three layers of red, black, and orange cotton with extensive polychrome appliqué and embroidery. The composition is organized in two stacked mirrored registers, each dominated by large bold appliquéd lettering reading “CANAL 2” — a direct reference to Canal 2, a Panamanian television broadcast channel — integrated into a densely interlocking abstract field of concentric oval, triangular, and arrow forms in yellow, teal, pink, blue, and purple. The letterforms are rendered at monumental scale and outlined in contrasting colors, functioning simultaneously as text and geometric design elements. Between the two registers a horizontal band of stacked concentric oval motifs creates a visual division. Corner elements feature abstract forms. The overall composition demonstrates the Guna practice of incorporating contemporary media and commercial imagery into traditional textile form. Fine consistent hand-stitching throughout, with zigzag embroidery accents on select outlines.
