Reverse appliqué mola panels worked in two layers of black and black cotton, each centering a large sinuous sea creature rendered in bold red outline against a black ground, the body densely covered with rows of multicolored diamond-shaped appliquéd scales in red, yellow, orange, blue, green, and purple, the interior filled with rainbow-hued embroidered bar elements. The creature extends a long diagonal fishing pole in white and green across the composition, terminating at a hooked fish. Attendant fish occupy the surrounding field: a large scaled fish at upper left with densely embroidered multicolored striped body; a circular spirit eye with white lash embroidery at center; and a stylized fish form at upper right with a prominent white eye. A small fish occupies the lower left corner. The entire ground saturated with multicolored embroidered bar and dash elements throughout. Techniques include reverse appliqué, appliqué, and embroidery. Applied to a full adult blouse constructed with neon yellow-green cotton body fabric, orange and green ric-rac trim at the yoke, black sleeve bands with zigzag cuff trim, and a wide striped woven cotton hem border in pink, rust, tan, and olive.
