Each worked in three layers of reverse appliqué with applied appliqué. A matched pair of abstract botanical panels sharing a unified design vocabulary. Each composition features stylized tree-of-life forms rising from interlocking maze and spiral motifs, crowned by circular medallions containing cross-hatched botanical devices. Radiating frond and leaf forms branch symmetrically outward, their serrated edges rendered in intricate cutwork revealing successive channels of blue, black, dark red, and orange beneath. The first panel presents two large circular tree medallions flanked by six frond forms; the companion panel arranges four oval medallions across the upper register with additional leaf forms distributed below and a large horizontal leaf enclosed within an oval at the lower center. Both panels share the same vivid palette of orange, blue, red, yellow, pink, green, and lavender, with each leaf rendered in a contrasting color combination to create visual rhythm across the surface. Nested Greek key and labyrinth motifs fill the lower corners of each panel. An orange cotton border frames both compositions. The cutwork throughout is precise and consistent, with tight curves and fine channeling demonstrating advanced technical control across both panels. A strong example of the traditional abstract botanical genre, offered as a matched pair.
