Description
Antique c1880 Log Cabin Quilt in wool and silk fabrics. Most likely from Pennsylvania. It measures 67 by 83 inches. It is comprised of 192 blocks, 4 x 4 inches, set straight, 12 by 16. There is a 2 inch pieced red and blue triangle with black inner border and a 7 inch wool solid green outer border there is thin cotton batting and a strippy bars reverse. The edge is finished with a red wool Dog Tooth applied binding, one inch, by hand. It is in fair condition with minor discolorations and wear mostly to the white and black silks. And there are several period repairs on the reverse. The quilt is graphic, well-planned, uses small scale blocks, and unusual design elements not usually found in a log cabin quilt.
